About Us

Richard Harvey, the founder and owner of RK Motors, started in the automotive industry at 14 when he helped with a restoration project at a local garage. At 16 he started at another garage doing full time mechanical work repairing cars. At 21, he received a job at a car dealership, again repairing vehicles. After 6 years of being a mechanic there he left in hopes of something bigger. In 2000, with 13 years of mechanical experience, Richard started his own business "RK Motors". this was in stow bridge in a smaller workshop. To begin with RK Motors repaired vehicles but did not offer MOTs. 6 years later it was time to expand, RK Motors would move into a bigger building on the Trafalgar industrial estate. The move also brought MOT testing as a service offered by RK Motors. In 2009, Brian would join the RK Motors team as a full time mechanic. With the new introduction of more well equipped staff, it allowed the business to expand again. In 2011 the unit next to RK Motors would then be rented by Richard, doubling workshop space. In the same year, the CNC project would begin. A CNC machine was purchased, installed and practiced by the RK Motors team until they were confident in their ability to create bespoke products that would go on sale. In 2018, Richard acquired his motorcycle license allowing him to test another kind of vehicle. This same year a second MOT tester, Anthony, joined. In 2019, sublimation printing would begin in RK Motors. Alongside the unique clocks, signs and candleholders created with CNC software, custom printed shirts, mugs, mouse mats and so on would be products sold by the company. Along with the business side, the RK Motors team has done outstanding personal projects like building a Factory Five 33 Ford Roadster from the ground up, accrediting the RK Motors team mechanical ability.
